Types of Aisles
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to work in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are several aisle widths to take into consideration with different units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks can work in less than 6 feet places, whereas some would utilize specific guidance systems such as rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel within the aisles. Some different models of VNA trucks include Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are common kinds in tight retail spaces and in several storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks can work within aisles that are 8 feet to 10 feet. Normally these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are usually used within storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work in aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard that is designed to reduce operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the operator is very large and has an 8" low step height that helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat together with a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and hence more productive while limiting fatigue.
