Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few kinds: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This version consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed in warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
