Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for many applications. There are some facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the machinery must be refueled.
So as to avoid potentially serious injury, specific safety measures must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for instance: be sure to wear the appropriate safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Turn off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never utilize any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
